General Information

The Brotherhood Community track program offers a great opportunity for boys and girls in 3rd to 8th grades. Runners learn the fundamentals of individual events as they develop running and conditioning skills. Runners also participate in the annual Amateur Athletic Foundation Youth Days track meet.

The Brotherhood Crusade Youth Sports began a track program in 2002 with a handful of kids going to one meet.  The program has grown over the last few years into a 60 person team that competes primarily in local recreational youth track meets with great success.  The Track program is open to runners of all abilities, and the experienced volunteer coaches can provide runners with the knowledge and skills they need to excel.

3rd - 8th Grade Co-Ed Division or 8 to 14 yrs old.

What to Expect

The entire BHC Track Team will practice primarily on Thursday evenings from 6-8pm at Pasadena High School Track.  Early in the season, the coaches will work with the kids to perform a €œRunner Evaluations.  This evaluation will help guide the coaches and assist the parents in understanding the best approach to make this Track and Field season a positive experience for their children. The evaluation will focus on the running ability of the child, their athletic experience level, their time available, and their personal goal for this track season.  With this information, the coaches can make an assessment of the best training approach and level of competition for each child and share that recommendation with the parents.

After the assessment, the majority of the team will fall into an “Intermediate Team” that will practice with the entire combined team once a week on Thursdays.  This group will compete, again with the entire team, at around 7 meets depending on how meet qualification goes for them..  A smaller Advanced Team” will also be formed this year to pursue a higher level of training and competition.  This team will practice with the complete team on Thursdays; they will also have an extra training day on Monday evenings.  The Advanced team will be encouraged to compete in five or six additional meets this year against the best of USTAF competition.

The Brotherhood Crusade Youth Sports organization and Track and Field coaches want this season to be a very positive experience for all of our youth athletes – We can’t wait to get started!

This new program is a Parent Participation sport. Parents must volunteer hours in order for their child to participate.

Parents are responsible for transporting their children to and from each track meet.

Important: Parents, do not purchase track shoes until after the first parent's meeting.

Track meets are held on Saturday or Sunday. Runners may choose the track meets in which they wish to participate. Attendance at all track meets is NOT mandatory.
